Sundaram Industries established Viralimalai unit in the year 1982. TVS Coach Limited was formed in the year 1999 as a joint venture between Ashok Leyland and Sundaram Industries. IRIZAR TVS was formed in the year 2002 as joint venture of three equal partners viz., Ashok Leyland Limited, TVS and Sons Limited & IRIZAR, S. Coop, Spain. From June 2014 the company name was changed to GLOBAL TVS BUS BODY BUILDERS LIMITED and the joint venture is now between Ashok Leyland and TVS & Sons Private Limited.
